The first step is to click on the 'book a portrait' button and choose between a digital or pastel portrait. You can also upload the photo you would like me to draw from. Before uploading these photos I would recommend you consult my guide on the best photos to send to ensure I can create a true rendition of your pet. Click here to view the guide. Once I have received your booking request I will contact you to advise on timescales. I require a 50% deposit to secure the booking which will be invoiced to you in order to secure your booking. Once I have received your deposit I will get started on your portrait.
What sizes do you offer and how many pets are included?
1 pet on A4 size paper for both digital and pastel drawings.
How do you create the portraits?
I offer a choice of either digital or pastel portraits. For digital portraits I use software called Procreate and my trusty Apple pencil. Procreate is a wonderful program which offers a wide variety of digital brushes and the full spectrum of colours to choose from. And if I make a mistake I can easily erase by pressing the undo button which means I can complete your pet portrait much quicker than I can with hand drawing. Once you are completely happy with my creation, I then print out the artwork on good quality archival matte paper, using quality inks that will look sharp and vibrant. For pastel drawings, I use good quality Derwent pastel coloured pencils and also pastel sticks. I draw on top quality Claire Fontaine pastelmat paper and once finished to your exact specifications I then fix with sealant to prevent smudging and colour fade. Once I have completed the first draft, I will send you a copy for you to approve and make any amendments you would like. I will only invoice you for the payment balance once you are 100% happy with your portrait.
Why is a pastel portrait more expensive than a digital one?
Digital artwork is much easier to create. Mistakes are simple to reverse when using digital software by pressing the erase or undo button, which means a digital portrait is quicker to create than one by hand. Digital software such as Procreate also offers a wide array of brushes which can be adjusted to size with one click of a button as well as being able to select from the entire colour spectrum rather than having to mix colours together. Making something by hand is more time-consuming and requires more materials. In deciding between a digital or pastel portrait, you should ask yourself if you would be happy receiving your final artwork as a print or would prefer a portrait where you can see and feel the actual materials used.
Is postage included?
Yes it is for customers in the UK. Unfortunately I am unable to trade outside of the UK at the moment due to the complexities of Brexit.
Will the picture be framed?
At the moment I am not offering a framing option.
I see a lot of dogs on this page, what if I want a different animal painted?
As a dog mum, I tend to get a lot of people asking me to paint their dogs. However, I love all animals and am more than happy to paint your cat, gerbil, iguana, ferret, budgie ..... whatever you would like really!
Would I get my money back if I didn't like the finished artwork?
Due to the personalised, bespoke nature of this process, I do not offer refunds. I always work closely with my customers to ensure they are informed at every stage, sending them regular drafts for them to approve. Only once my clients are 100% happy with each stage will I move on to the next, so any problems are quickly dealt with.
